DEMOGRAPHIC HISTORY OF GOJRA.
GOJRA:
The word Gojra is derived from “Gouchara” which was Formerly known
as “Gojrah” and then GOJRA. This area was meadow on the past quarter
of 19th century. The Hindu shepherd who came abroad settled here and
those people use to bring up cows and due to their profession this place
was called as “Gouchara” means cow’s pasture. At that time two water
channels passed near by Gojra. One of these flows in the East and other in
the West. The Western was called “Budh”, which is well known as dry old
river bed even today. The Eastern has almost finished but in the shape of
water-logged course it has been flowing since one decade. This argument is
logical because the earlier inhabitants of this area now are called “JANGALI”
are seen grazing their cows.
The history of Gojra is just old more than a century.
Gojra Municipal Committee
came into being in 1896 with the establishment of Fasialabad
city (Lyallpur city).
The regular settlements commenced in this area by the
construction of lower
Chenab canal on 1892.
Agriculture was started with the supply of canal water.
The Gojra marker was established in 1894.

Toba Tek Singh was upgraded to sub-division in 1900 and Gojra was of it’s a
“THANA” (Division of Tehsil).
A police station was established here in 1903. It was declared “B” class Municipal
Committee in 1979 and was upgraded to sub-division in 1982.
The viceroy Lord Karzan, visited the area in 1927 and the magistrate empowered
the authority of allotment. A post office was established due to local social and
commercial necessities in 1923. The telephone service was started I 1936,
Which was attached with Jhang. Municipal Committee set up a primary school on 1901,
